Abstract
This article discusses a number of relevant aspects of critical thinking. The role of a fundamentally new concept of meta-analysis is briefly outlined. The article discusses the motifs of presenting critical thinking as careful thinking. The true sense of Dewey’s concept of reflective thinking is revealed. Cases of damaging results caused by insufficient level of critical thinking are presented. The authors support the idea that solving paradoxes is an important task of critical thinking. The new trend on social aspect of critical thinking is discussed. The second part of the article deals with logic and methodology of research. The central point of the undertaken analysis concerns the impassesituation, together with its causes and ways for overcoming it. The authors suggest that rules of discoveries are a kind of generalization of the problem-solving rules.
