Kaproen
Kaproen In Middle Dutch this means "cap". In Picardy "Caperon", French "Chaperon", in Latin "cappa". The White Capons (14th and 15th centuries) was a kind of police force in Ghent, whose members wore a white headgear as a badge of recognition (chaperon). They apprehended criminals, ordered traffic at ceremonies, and were the bodyguard of the dean of the craftsmen. The corps in Bruges and Ypres was called the 'Red' and the 'Blue Capons'.
