LANGUAGE AND FREEDOM

F. Vandamme

Abstract

The relevance and impact of the used language in the development and support for freedom or slavery is being discussed in this article. We start from Chomsky’s the contribution “Language and Freedom”. We look into the impact of language in the elaboration of organization and hierarchies. We look at the several forms of organization in society and in peculiar on the hidden predispositions of the Indo-European languages concerning organization, hierarchy, heterarchy etc. To what degree can their implicit predispositions be transcended, trespassed. Do we meet here also a type of “Bet of Pascal”, concerning freedom for a majority or freedom for a minority?

M. BALDER, FU ZHI, L. WANG. The C3U7P4I9E3-DO METHOD FOR GENERAL
ASSESSMENT OF MEDIA PRODUCTS

Fu Zhi, Wang Lin

Abstract

A three dimensional grid for assessing media products is introduced. For each dimension several parameters and sub parameters are introduced on the top of the grid a metric is defined to be able to assess progress, to detect specific problems, early warning indications etc. The validation and evaluation of this metric is discussed. Finally it is indicated how this method can be used to detect dyssocials.

CRITICAL ISSUES IN TEACHING WORLD HISTORY

Davit Mosinyan

Abstract

The paper aims to raise critical issues in teaching world history. Recently, critical thinking aspires to enter all spheres of education and science. The paper describes the developments of problems that can arise when one thinks about world history. The process of thinking is summarized in two types of issues – epistemological and political. The first refers to the possibility of knowing history in general, and the second refers to the position of presenting world history. Continuous discussion of these problems is necessary not only for proper teaching but also for keeping history free from possible crisis.

MEDIA WISDOM WITH THESAURUS BASED MEASURING OF CRITICAL THINKING AND
NEG - CRITICAL THINKING

Kaczmarski P., Muylle F.

Abstract

The present challenges of the media and media wisdom are the same as we have seen in the prerevolutionary 17 and 18 century and as they are described and addressed by Voltaire and Pascal. Their solutions are as relevant today as they were in their time. The main difference is that by the modern technology and AI facilities, their impact is bigger than ever before. Nevertheless their analyses and solutions are still basic.
The starting point is “critical thinking”. This means to recognize the processes of “decommunication” and “decognition” which are activated and combined with “diversion” and “diversionary tactics and actions: “NEG-critical thinking”.
In the “decommunication” and “decognition” that is the processes of inducement of people to stop to think and to communicate with others, fear and terror are very important. It stimulates anger and fanatism so that people are strengthened in their stop to think and communicate. Moreover they are further stimulated into diversion and diversionary tactics and actions.
This happens in different ways. Fanatism and fear are also a diversion of the real issues, problems and solutions. Other forms of diversion are also introduced in “NEG-critical thinking”. With Pascal (1654) we can mention that a simple “ball”( real, virtual or video one), can make forget immediately the grief one has about the death of one’s son. Another strategic and frequent used distraction is to concentrate on the conflicts instead of on the analyses and solutions of the problems. Another element which is crucial for Media Wisdom is attention on the impact of critical thinking for stimulating creativity. This creativity can be used as well as for positive as well as for the “NEG-critical thinking”. That is as well for stimulating fanatism, instead of for problem solving!
